We know that China’s ecommerce market is set to see $274.5 billion in spending in 2014, but how much of that will be done from mobile devices? The answer is, by the best estimates, $51.62 billion spent via mobile commerce this year. That’s nearly double the m-commerce tally in 2013.

Now that smartphones account for over 80 percent of China’s new phone sales, it’s inevitable that the m-commerce sector is growing faster than the ecommerce industry itself. It’s time for all ecommerce companies to pay a lot more attention to their phone and tablet apps. A new infographic by Go Globe compiles a bunch of the latest statistics about China’s mobile-based ecommerce sector.
Aside from how much is being spent, it shows which sites they’re using, and how they’re paying up. A few figures to look out for: Mobile shopping spending will grow 91.1 percent from 2013 to 2014. As ecommerce gets closer to saturation point in China, that growth on mobile will slow a lot from 2015 through 2018. Alibaba’s Taobao and Tmall sites still dominate the sector – accounting for 76.1 percent of ecommerce spending from mobile devices.
