Fujitsu Ltd. launched a cloud computing health management service for dogs Wednesday, using a pedometer that can be attached to a dog collar.
The data collected through the pedometer, called a Wandant, can be analyzed via personal computer or smartphone, allowing owners to monitor their pet’s physical condition and prevent them from becoming obese.

The device, which measures 4.6 cm wide, 2.8 cm high and 1.3 cm thick and weighs 16 grams, counts the steps a dog takes, measures the temperatures around its neck and analyzes its body vibrations to monitor its stress levels, according to Fujitsu.
The service will cost about ¥9,800 for the device and cloud computing service in the first year and ¥420 per month after that.
Actor Sho Aikawa helped promote the service at a Fujitsu media preview Tuesday in Tokyo.
The company aims to win 400,000 service subscribers by March 2016.
